Condition & Safety Guide

We clean, safety-check and describe every toy so you know exactly what you’re buying.

How we prepare toys

Clean & sanitise: Wiped, washed or spot-cleaned with child-safe products.
Function test: Lights, sounds, buttons, moving parts and mechanisms checked.
Parts check: Key/essential pieces present and counted; non-critical extras noted.
Battery check: Compartments inspected; flat or leaking batteries removed and disposed of responsibly.
Listing photos & notes: Honest photos plus a short condition note and any inclusions/exclusions.

We are not currently accepting soft toys, so you won’t see much plush listed until this changes.

Our condition grades

We photograph real items and grade them against this simple scale:

As New
Looks unused. No marks or wear. Complete with key parts. Works perfectly.

Excellent
Very lightly used. Minor, barely noticeable scuffs. Complete with key parts. Works perfectly.

Very Good
Gently used with small scuffs or light wear. Complete with key parts (or a minor, non-essential piece missing—clearly stated). Works perfectly.

Good / Play-worn
Visible wear from normal play (scratches, decal wear, sun-fade, small dings). All essential parts present and working; any missing/alternate pieces are noted. A great everyday play buy.

Fair (Spares/repairs)
Sold for projects or parts. Will have notable wear or a functional quirk. Only listed if the play value is clear and details are fully described.

“Essential parts” are the pieces needed for the toy to work safely and as intended. If a key item is missing, we don’t list it for sale.

What we don’t list

Toys with broken, sharp or unstable components.
Items with cracked or corroded battery compartments.
Magnet toys that don’t meet safety standards or have loose/accessible magnets.
Items subject to a product recall.
Incomplete sets where play is compromised.

Safety checks we perform

Choking hazards: Small parts flagged; age guidance added.
Battery safety: Cover fits securely; terminals intact. Button-cell items checked and labelled.
Structural integrity: No sharp edges, splits, or pinch points.
Cleanliness: No mould, odours or residue.
Standards & recalls: We avoid items that fail basic safety expectations or appear on recall lists.
Age guidance: We add a suggested age range based on manufacturer info and common-sense play.

Always supervise young children and follow the manufacturer’s age guidance.

Batteries & power

Battery-operated toys are tested. If batteries are included, they’re new or tested.
If not included, we’ll note “batteries not included” in the listing.
We do not sell mains-powered electrical items.

What “complete” means

Complete set: All essential pieces present for intended play.
Minor variations: Colour variants or third-party replacement parts may be used if they don’t affect play; we’ll tell you.
Printed instructions: Included when available; otherwise we provide a brief how-to in the description.

Cleaning & care at home

Wipe hard plastics with a damp cloth and mild soap; dry thoroughly.
Avoid soaking electronics.
Check and replace batteries regularly; remove for storage.
Store puzzles/sets in zipped bags or tubs to keep pieces together.
